Squamish Canyon

Squamish Canyon is a remarkable and special destination. This eco-tourist attraction in British Columbia features boardwalks meandering through a West Coast rainforest to a river’s edge, where visitors enjoy breathtaking views of glacial waterfalls.

The project includes over 1,600 linear feet of Webnet infill safety railing, complying with local safety regulations while enhancing the visual appeal of the boardwalk and viewing platforms, where spectacular views are the main attraction.

Design

At the heart of the design is 1,600 linear feet of code-compliant Webnet installed along key sections of the boardwalk and all viewing platforms. The netting consists of 40mm-diameter cable made from 1.5mm-diameter strands, supported by an 8mm tension cable perimeter.

Installation

Custom components played an important role in the site installation. Our team implemented both fixed and adjustable spreader bars to reduce tension in the cable perimeter system, ensure the guardrail height was maintained, preserve the shape of the Webnet, and provide vertical support at transition points.

Maintenance

Constructed from durable, polyvalent wire, this installation requires minimal maintenance. The netting is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including rain, snow, sunlight, and ice, making it resilient enough to handle the seasonal challenges of this demanding environment.

Our Vancouver offices are located on the unceded and ancestral territory of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Swx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Swx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and has been stewarded by them since time immemorial.

Vancouver is located on territory that was never ceded, or given up to the Crown by the Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh peoples. The term unceded acknowledges the dispossession of the land and the inherent rights that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh hold to the territory. The term serves as a reminder that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh have never left their territories and will always retain their jurisdiction and relationships with the territory.
