Blakiston Falls

Blakiston Falls, nestled within Waterton Lakes National Park, is a breathtaking natural attraction that showcases the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Known for its stunning turquoise pool at the base of the waterfall, the site has been enhanced with modern amenities to make it more accessible for visitors.

With the addition of two new stainless steel viewing platforms, guests can now enjoy unobstructed views of both the lower and upper falls, making this picturesque spot a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

Design

Working closely with the needs of Parks Canada, the newly built viewing platforms have been designed with modern accessibility in mind and constructed entirely of stainless steel. This material was chosen for its durability and weather resistance, ensuring that the platforms remain safe and functional while providing a stylish and comfortable space for visitors to enjoy the scenic views.

Installation

Installed with care to minimize environmental impact, the platforms were rebuilt after the fires to enhance visitor safety and enjoyment. Their strategic placement allows everyone, including those with mobility challenges, to enjoy the views without harming the landscape.

Maintenance

Constructed from durable, versatile wire, this installation requires minimal upkeep, minimizing maintenance demands for Parks Canada. The netting is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including rain, snow, sunlight, and ice, ensuring it can handle the seasonal challenges of this demanding environment.

Vancouver is located on territory that was never ceded, or given up to the Crown by the Musqueam, Squamish, or Tsleil-Waututh peoples. The term unceded acknowledges the dispossession of the land and the inherent rights that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh hold to the territory. The term serves as a reminder that Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh have never left their territories and will always retain their jurisdiction and relationships with the territory.
